Workforce Development Fund
The Workforce Development Fund is funding from the Department of Health, disbursed by Skills for Care. This limited pot of money funds qualification units and supports the ongoing professional development of staff working in adult social care in England.
Employers can claim back a contribution towards the costs of employees completing health and social care qualifications, units and apprenticeships. Those employers who directly incur costs for learning and development, such as course fees, can access the WDF to reclaim a contribution towards these costs.
If you’re joining a partnership to access funding you’ll need to identify the learning needs of your staff and find a learning partner, which is where KS Training come in.
As a qualified training provider, KS Training can help you identify the training needs of your employees, then once you have commissioned the learning and development programme that’s right for them, you’ll need your NMDS-SC number.
If you’re not already on the National Minimum Data Set for Social Care (NMDS-SC) then you’ll need to set up an account. An online data collection for the whole adult social care workforce and sector.

KS Training ensures the National Minimum Data Set for Social Care (NMDS-SC) is up to date with all employee records entered correctly. This means that where required we will send a member of our team to site who will set up the NMDS record and input all the employee data.
We’ll manage the claim process on your behalf and complete all the claim paperwork including filling out claim sheets accordingly, ensuring they’re counter signed by our IQA’s as required.
We will provide these completed sheets to you on a regular basis. You simply send them to the local skills for care partnership team who will process the claim and pay the funds directly to you.
As an employer you can claim up to 60 credits per contract year, funded at £15.00 per credit, which is worth £900 per staff member, with the money paid directly back to you via BACs transfer.
